Title of Book : P.S. I Love You
Author : Cecelia Ahern
Publisher : Thorndike Press
The title of the book – P.S.I Love You – may appear to be just another “cheesy romance novel”. But through creating a story revolving the past, the present and the future, the writer Ahern has taught me a valuable lesson about the true meaning of living and the thin divide between life and death. At first, I never thought that P.S. I Love You would be suitable for a pre-teen like me. But the great love of Holly and Gerry has transcended time to make it relevant to any ordinary person who has a loving heart! …
It is unlike any other romance novel I have read before, which focuses more on how love changes a person. It explores how death, though ends someone’s life, rebuilds a person. I sincerely recommend this book to everyone – from teenagers to parents- who will be touched by the courage and strength of Holly. P.S. I Love You is a must read.

Title of Book : Stormbreaker
Author : Anthony Horowitz
Publisher : Walkers Books
Stormbreaker is the most exciting book I have read in the past twelve years, as it is the written by the most popular writer in Britain, Anthony Horowitz.
A computer company was going to destroy Britain by a new kind of computer invention – Stormbreaker. The boss of the company was a schoolmate of the British prime minister, because of his short height, he was teased by the prime minister and other classmates, he had to revenge!
When the prime minister presses the button, the whole world’s net will be destroyed. To deal with this dangerous situation, the spy centre, M16 sent fourteen-year-old Alex immediately to solve the problem.
On the way, this young spy met lots of questions, but at the meantime he showed his courage and intelligence. They will attract you.
I was deeply amazed by how Anthony manages the story and the description of either the appearance of a person or a scene. I learnt a lot of new phrases and words. Anthony has really done a great job!

Title of Book : The Tempest
Author : William Shakespeare
Editors : Claudia Fiocco, Rebecca Raynes
Publisher : Black Cat Publishing
As I know, “The Tempest” is one of the representative works of Shakespeare.
It is a very interesting story which describes Prospero, a duke, but he had been framed by the king of Naples. He was not a duke again, so he was a poor man. His brother was an evil man, he had taken his place and become the duke. He also laughed at Prospero.
Prospero was filled with anger and he and the fairy, Ariel, used magic to make a storm and a tempest to punish Antonio, the new duke. The king and all the people on the ship were pushed to an island by the storm. Prospero’s daughter, Miranda, had met the king’s son, Ferdinand. They fell in love.
Then Prospero used magic to punish the bad people again. The king and his brother were sorry and felt ashamed. But the king was sad because his son was lost. Prospero then told the king that his son was there with Miranda safely. When they met, they were extremely happy.
At the end, Prospero did no more magic because of a happy ending.
I was surprised because I didn’t think Prospero would forgive the king and his brother. The book was exciting too because of the colourful pictures. I’ve learned lots of new words such as wedding, royal, hurray, etc. It also had a glossary and some tests at the end of the book. It really helps young readers like me to read the book well!

Title of Book : Tashi and the Ghosts
Author : Anna Fienberg
Publisher : National Library of Australia Cataloguing-in-Publication
Do you believe that there are ghosts in the world? What will you do if you see a ghost? Will you talk with them and scare them? If I see a ghost aroud me, I think I will shout and run away.
I think this book is very interesting. I also like the boy,Tashi. No one in the village is as brave as Tashi. Why?
One day, there were many ghosts in the village. Everybody in the village dashed out into the street because there were many ghosts that went to their home and ate them. Tashi found his father’s Younger Brother. He knew that the next eclipse there would be a haunting of ghosts and Book of Calculation. Next night ,Tashi went to the forest and found those ghosts. The ghost leader wanted to eat him but Tashi warned it that the Red Whiskered Dragon would come to eat the moon and punish it. When the ghost leader saw the eclipse, they were scared and ran away.
How do you feel about this story? Do you feel the boy was very brave? You can also be brave as Tashi and go to scare those ghosts. But why do some of you think you cannot? It is because of your mentality. Your heart is sure that you are scared and cannot scare those ghosts. But it is a very easy thing. You should say ‘I can do it’ and believe yourself.
Try it! Say ‘I can improve.’ Say ‘I am not scared.’ Say ‘I can do it’ etc. to yourself. You will be brave and believe yourself.
You can do it!

Title: Apollo’s Gold
Author: Antoinette Moses
Publisher: Cambridge University Press/
Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press
This is a Mystery story. The story is set on a Greek island. Liz, an archaeologist in Athens, loves working very much. She was ill due to over work. Therefore, her doctor asked her to have a holiday and take a rest. She went to an island Sifnos in Greece. Unfortunately, her friend died in a fire accident. She wanted to find out the cause of his death. She then discovered a group of terrorists trading guns. She was in danger. An international police, Takis, saved her life but he was being hurt. Finally, a group of international police arrived and saved them.
The character, Takis, impressed me most in the story. He is brave and unreserved. He hid himself as a policeman. He worked as a clandestine with the group of terrorists. He is a great policeman. Most importantly, he saved the life of Liz even though he was in great danger. We should also learn to have such kind of good quality.

Title: A Picture to Remember
Author: Sarah Scott-Malden
Publisher: Cambridge University Press/
Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press
Have you ever lost your memory about something? This is a story about the main character Cristina who is working in a museum in Argentina and has a strange experience of losing a short memory after a car accident. She actually saw two robbers in a car accident. Two robbers were afraid and planned to kill her. Cristina was injured by someone pushing the heavy weight on her shoulder in a gym center. She had a strange feeling about this injury accident but she did not know why. She kept on working with a French museum director, Phillippe, for the exhibition of impressionist paintings. The two robbers drove a car and knocked them down. Phillippe’s legs were badly hurt. Cristina‘s friend, Daniel, reported to the police and saved the life of Cristina.
The story is exciting. It made me learn that life is difficult to predict. Just like Cristina, she never knew that she was a target of two robbers. We need to treasure our life and be cautious about our surroundings.

Title: Dolphins at Daybreak
Author: Mary Pope Osborne

Have you ever swum with dolphins in the ocean? This is the story book about a brother and a sister named Annie and Jack. They traveled around the world for adventure. This time, they went to coral reef and went under the water by the mini-sub. They met a lot of fishes and curios creatures, including huge octopus, dolpins and shark!

Rough and gray as rock.
I’m plain as plain can be.
But hidden deep inside
There’s great beauty in me.
What am I?

This story is very interesting and exciting! I think they are very brave and clever to find out the riddle’s answer. This story is not very long and it is suitable for teenagers. You can read this book next time if you want!

Title: Dark Day in the Deep Sea
Author: Mary Pope Osborne
Publisher: Random House
This book is one of the MagicTree House series. This set of books are about Annie and Jack. They traveled on many adventures for Morgan and Marlin.
This time, they went back to 1872 and met Henry which is one of the scientists of the HMS Challenger. They were invited to visit the ship under bad weather. Annie and Jack saw many Henry’s specimens and sea creatures’ sample on the ship’s laboratory.
In an accident, Annie and Jack crashed out the ship by big sea waves. Their life vest got loose and washed by the wave. Suddenly, a huge octopus saved them and let them go onto the ship. The sailors caught the octopus and wanted to study the monster of the sea.
At last, Annie and Jack told the sailors not to hurt the octopus and the sea creatures. The sailors let the octopus go away and knew that protect sea creatures is the most important thing!
I think people who read this book will know more about protecting sea creatures and learn something from the two characters, Annie and Jack. If we don’t care about the sea creatures, the sea will be destroyed by our hands one day!

Title: Red Tears
Author: Barbara
Publisher: Faber and Faber Limited
The protagonist of this story, ‘Red Tears’, is a Grade A student who seems to have everything. Emily Bowyer had everything – perfect grades, friends and family. However, when GCSE exams started to hit in, her social life started to go downwards. Her mother would remind her at every chance she got about homework, her friends started to isolate her, even her grades started to go down. She felt lonely. She wanted distraction and she found it – a blade as sharp as a lion tooth that could cut as deep as the ocean. Cutting her wrist would give her the distraction she wanted, she believed that it would take her away from reality just for a little while.
This story gained my attention because it really illustrates what teenagers would do to their life when there’s too much to bear, or so they thought. While reading this book, I felt like I was with Emily through every ups and every downs.

Title of the book: The Little Prince
Author: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Publisher: The Penguin Book
When the author was six years old, he wanted to be a painter. He gave his picture to the grown-ups, but they advised him to study instead of drawing. He said, 〝Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.〞Later, he learnt to pilot airplanes and met little prince by an accident with his plane in Sahara. Little prince came from an asteroid called B-612.
One day, for little prince’s escape he took advantage of the migration of a flock of wild birds. In his journey, he made the acquaintance of different people – the king who was an absolute monarch, a conceited man, a tippler, a lamplighter…
Each story brings out a massage to us. I like the story about little prince and the fox most. Little prince met a fox on Earth. The fox wanted little prince to tame him and make friends with him. At last, the fox told him his secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; What is essential is invisible to the eye. I love this truth very much.

Title:The Mountain of White tiger
Author:Barbara
Publisher:National Library of Australia Cataloguing-in-Publication
Baron was very greedy. He loved gold very much and put them in the mysterious place where there were many tigers around.
One day, he stole some gold from Tashi’s aunt, Li lam’s home and wanted to stay in her home forever. She took a promise paper that said only she could stay there forever, so she didn’t let him stay in. Baron was very angry and put a lot of mice to Li lam’s home. Li Lam was very upset. But Tashi had made them go away.
Tashi went to the mystery and expelled those tigers by fire.(Because tigers were afraid of fire!) Finally, his gold had been stolen by Tashi and he went to the police station. Because he stole many gold from other people’s house, Baron got what he deserved.
I admired Tashi because he was very brave and we should be honest and not be greedy like Baron because he stole other people’s gold and wanted to stay in other people’s home.

Title of book: Little Women
Author: Louisa May Alcott
Publisher: Classic Starts
This story is about Meg, Jo, Amy, and Beth-The March sisters. As they grow from girls into young women, they gradually learn more about life, friendship, and the power of love along the way. This story is touching. Although they might not have much, they gave all they have to the poor people. The March family is a warm family – they sang lullabies every night before going to sleep, read the letter from their father who went to war together, had no quarrel with other, solved problem together. All in all, they were happy girls, who found comfort in one another when the outside world was disappointing…Such family is rare to see nowadays. It is good for us to reflect on ourselves: Do I spend enough time with family?
The March sisters had nice character. I can remember an unbelievable sense in the story; it is the beginning of the story. It was Christmas, they used their savings to buy a present for their mother. It is touching because they didn’t have money but they insist to thank their mother. This is a really great story.

Title of book: Weather and Climate
Author: Rebecca L. Johnson
Publisher: Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press
Since I was just about six years old, I liked reading books very much, especially the books which are about science. This book—‘Weather and Climate’ is one of the books in the National Geographic Reading Expeditions. I think this is a good and suitable book for learning because there are many pictures and meaning of the difficult words and these make it easier for us to read this book.
I can find so much interesting knowledge in this book which I don’t know before. For example, ‘What is weather or climate?’. There are many different things about air around us, some important things about wind and water and how to read a climatic graph. Many useful things that you may never think about are clearly introduced in this ‘Weather and Climate’. So you don’t need to think any further, just open this book and read it. I am sure that you are going to be a clever person on weather and climate.

They all got on the car with their dog but it was too crowded. When Dad wanted to start the journey, Winsome the dog jumped off from the car. They caught him back and kept going to visit their Auntie. When they stopped and rested for a while, Kelvin found a beautiful snakeskin. Then they kept going again. Title of the book: Tales of Africa
Editor: Lisa Owens
Publisher: Perfection Learning
The book”Tales of Africa” is a book like ” Fables of Aesop”. It provides many fables in the book. It uses animals as the main characters in most stories. It also teaches us a moral after each story. It also provides some ancient thinking about animals. For example, in the story ” How the leopard got its spots”, it says because leopard was the best friend of fire, one day, leopard invited fire to visit its house. When fire touched it, it got some black spots on it. It is a very funny story.
Another story I like is “Ananse gets out of work”. It says that there was a spider called Ananse. He wanted to earn money without working. So he lied to his wife and son that he kicked and screamed. And he relaxed at home. Finally, his wife and son knew he was lying and didn’t allow him to get in the house. I learnt that we should not lie.

Title of the book: Heidi
Author: Lisa Church
Publisher: Sterling Publisher
‘Heidi’ is a book about a little girl called Heidi. She thrives in the open air and sunshine of the Swiss Alps where she lives with her grandfather. But when it is decided that she needs a better education than she gets running with the goats, she is whisked away to be a companion to a wheelchair-bound Clara in the city.
Clara has a large difference from Heidi. She is a rich girl but cannot walk and Heidi is a very poor girl who can do many things. Although they soon strike up a loving friendship, Heidi longs for a place where she can truly get happiness.
Brimming with the gentle goodness and the unbridled spirit of its heroine, ‘Heidi’ is a heartwarming story that is very touching. Although the life of Heidi is not very adventurous, we can try to admire her and learn her spirit. I think everyone will want to read it over and over again.

Author: Joan DeDeu Prats
This book is about a little boy, called Sebastian. He was shy and quiet. He didn’t talk to his neighbours, his only barber of his schoolmates. Though he loved Geography and he could almost tell which capital of which country, he would not put up his hand and answer the question in Geography lesson. Though he loved Ester, a girl sat in front of him in his class, he couldn’t pick up his confidence and express his feeling to her. Though he didn’t like his hair style which is cut by his only barber, he only said a word ‘fine’ and let it be bygones. He was too bashful!

Title of the book: Tuesdays with Morrie
Author: Mitch Albom
Publisher: Random House
The book, Tuesdays with Morrie, is the first philosophical novel in English I read. Actually, I have read its Chinese Translation Edition before I read the original English one. Sometimes, translation lost some of it tastes when the passage was being translated, so I started to read its original edition.
Tuesdays with Morrie is a true story about a professor Morrie who was near to death, but he still used his only time to have a lesson with his student Mitch to tell him the true meaning of life, the importance in life, the purpose of life and the meaning of death, etc.
Tuesdays with Morrie quite inspires me in its definition of life. It is still affecting my way of looking at things up to now. There are a few words from the book I still remember. ‘So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important.’ After this, it says,‘This is because they’re chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. ’
I think this book is very good for your own spiritual growth. Maybe for Form 1 or 2 students, you still don’t know what’s the underlying meanings of the words. You may have difficulty reading it. But I suggest you read it again a few years later. I think at that time you will understand it -‘As you grow, you learn more’.

Then his father made Huck be a slave of him. Huck ran away and met the running away slave of the widow. They were happy because they had a partner.
Unfortunately, they met two frauds and they asked Huck and Jim to help them earn money. After some days, they heard Peter die and he left behind a lot of property. They also sold Jim while Huck was sleeping.
Huck asked a lot of people and knew that Jim was sold to the farm of Aunt Sally.
Huck pretended to be her nephew, Tom. He helped Jim to escape, but Jim was hurt by a huntsman. The escape plan of Huck was destroyed.
Finally, Tom’s Family knew the truth and told Huck and Jim.‘Huck’s father and Jim’s master were dead. ‘You can have freedom!’ They were very happy that day.
I think the story is very exciting. Huck was intelligent and brave. I hope the story will attract you and bring you to the adventure journey of Huck.

Title: How I met myself
Author: David A. Hill
Publisher: Cambridge University Press/ Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press
Have you ever met “yourself” in the street? Will you be scared? The main character, John, got a very strange experience. He came from Britain to work in Hungary. He got married with a young lady who taught him Hungarian. One day, he met a man who looked like him. Then, he tried to find the man, but he could not find anything. He read information about a “Doppelganger”. It means something like double walker who comes to give messages about danger or to offer advice. It is usually thought to bring bad luck. This information made John scared. He worried something bad will happen. He spent much of his time in searching. He did not care for his wife and his daughter. He believed that his wife and daughter would be in danger. Finally, the family was safe with the help of “Doppelganger”.
The story was interesting. It was not a detective fiction. But the story attracted you to continue reading to know the ending and what will happen to the characters. At last, it got a happy ending.

Title of the book: CSS: The Definitive Guide, 3rd Edition
Author: Eric Meyer
Publisher: O’Reilly
Today, I would like to share a book with you. It is unlike the book I shared last time, this one is a reference book. This is a book about computer. Maybe someone would ask why I read conference book in English. They may think reference book in Chinese is easier than that in English, but in my own experience, it’s definitely not, especially books on Computer Science. With the various translation of proper nouns, you may get confused when you start to learn.
Today, the book I share is called ‘CSS: The Definitive Guide’, which is published by the world weighty computer related books publisher, O’Reilly. This book is about CSS, which stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is a new type of lauguage (can be said like this?) on decorating or formating your website beside directly put on HTML. The advantage of it is that CSS allows a much richer document appearance than HTML and you can save time by using it. You will know if you read this book.
Let’s read this book and you may find more interest in your computer.

Title of the book:Oh,Bother!Someone Won”t Share
Auther:Betty Birney
Publisher:Nacy Stevenson
Today, I would like to share a book with you.I like this book because it is about Winnie the Pooh. Maybe someone will think the book is childish, but I think is not because it can teach us something we cannot learn in the textkbook or lesson. Like in this book, it teaches us to “share” things. If you do not share things, you will have no friend or if you want to borrow things, people don’t share things with you.
The story is about Rabbit that planted many vegetables, like succulent spinach, luscious lettuce, gorgeous green beans, prized peppers and his favourite-colossal carrots. Pooh wanted to share with Rabbit, but Rabbit did not want to share with Pooh because he thought those vegetables were grown by his hard work and prepared for eating in winter .After that, Piglet,Tigger and Roo came to find Rabbit and shared the vegetables, but Rabbit did not say yes.
If you want to borrow this book, wait for some time, until I return it to the Main Library!

Title: The Phantom of the Opera
Author: Gaston Leroux
This story talks about a man, Erik. He is a music genius but has an ugly face, so he wears a mask. He builds an opera house, with many secret doors and passages. Many people think he is a ghost.

Title: Mr. Bean
Author:Rowan Atkinson
Richard Curtis
Robin Driscoll
Andrew Clifford
Publisher: Penguin Readers
Today, I would like to share a book with you. The name of this book, which I believe most of you may have heard about, is MR. BEAN! It is a really funny book. I like this book since I laugh whenever I am reading it. Some of you may think Mr. Bean is silly, but if he is stupid, how can he play tricks on the others? Although this book does not teach us anything, it can make us stay away from pressure and stress. Therefore, I think it is a very good book.
The story is about Mr. Bean celebrating his birthday in a restaurant and he wrote a birthday card for himself. Although other people thought it was crazy, he felt very pleased with it. After that, he took a knife for the steak and played it. Other people thought he was sick and told the waiter to transfer to the other table. Then he tried to put the steak in to somewhere else and brought it home. At last the manager came and gave him a plastic bag.
I think this is one of the funniest stories in Mr. Bean. I hope more and more people will like watching or reading Mr. Bean after I have shared this book.

Title: The Coldest Place on Earth
Publisher: Oxford University Press
Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press
This story talks about two teams’ members. They competed to decide which team would get to the South Pole first. The team from British was headed by Captain Robert Falcon Scott. Another team from Norway was headed by Captain Roald Amundsen. It was a really a hard journey. Both of two team members were intelligent, brave and strong. All of them had special skills. The team from Norway used dogs and sledges for this exhausting journey. The team from British used ponies and motor sledges. Both of them climbed up and down the mountains in -7 Centigrade or even -60 Centigrade! Finally, the team from Norway put the Norwegian flag in the South Pole. The team from British arrived and saw the flag. They were tired, ill and disappointed. They lose their race and also their lives in the coldest place on Earth because they didn’t have enough food.
This story was touching. It made me think about that the creature which has the most power to adapt to the world can keep alive even the surroundings is extremely bad.

Title: Garfield–on the top of the world
Author: Jim Davis
Publisher: Ravette Publishing
Today, I would like to share a book with you. This book, I think you know the leading role, is about Garfield! It is very funny to read. When I was reading it, I laughed excitedly! And it can help me to relax. So it is the reason why I share this book to you.
Garfield, you know, is a lazy cat. He eats so much and sleeps so much. One comic says when he saw the calendar of the records at the end of a year, he found that he missed three naps in that year and then he went to catch up the three naps! It is so funny! But I think he cannot care for this too much because if he cares for this, he will find it hard to catch up!
Also, this comic is also funny. It says Garfield’s owner, Jon, told Garfield that dinner was served. But when he said ‘Dinner is…’ Garfield ran very, very fast and collided with Jon. And then he ate dinner fast!
About Jon’s dog and Garfield’s friend, Odie, is very silly. One comic says Jon taught Odie to sit up. But he did not do it and made Jon angry. And then Garfield said Odie used three years to learn how to breathe! This is too exaggerating but it is funny! But I want to ask, why can Odie exist till now?
This book is very, very funny and interesting. Also the picture is beautiful and good. This book has another good comic in it. If you want to see Garfield’s comic, you can find it in the library. I hope there will be more people reading it, which makes them laugh and relax.
This is the end of my sharing. Thank you!

Pigasso and Mootisse are artists. They have created some famous and venerable paintings. Many art teachers, sellers, students in their town visit them and appreciate their works of art. However, they feel annoyed with them and want a nice and silent place for obtaining new idea of next compositions.
Pigasso and Mootisse move to a great plain coincidentally and become acquainted with each other. One day, they criticize their new compositioin in which their own unique art styles are involved and argue against each other. They are separated by a fence which is built up between their houses.
While Pigasso is painting his new composition, a drawback is discovered in his painting. While Mootisse is drawing his new picture, a fault is found in his drawing. Oh! They cannot create a new work without each other. Later, they try to combine their art style and gain a great appreciation.
Perhaps we usually discriminate against other’s opinion with a subjective attitude. However, it is advisable to take an open-minded approach to new ideas!

Title of Book : The Road to El Dorado
Author : Peter Lerangis
Publisher : Puffin Books
“Grrrrrrrrommmmmmmmmmmmmm…The distant volcano suddenly rumbled, shaking the ground. Gasps of shock washed over the crowd.” As a matter of fact, this book is a fantasy. The story is about two swashbuckling swindlers who get their rank-smelling hands on a map to the mythological and glorious city of gold.
As expected, there are many obstacles on their way to the city of gold. For instance, a high priest is clasped in a power struggle with the dreadfully benevolent chief and the perfunctory and negligent girlfriend puts the two friends at odds. This made them agrue for a long period.
This story is filled with action, excitement and humour which shows the greatness of friendship, courage and bravery which can be spread all over the world if everyone performs deeds of open-handedness and friendliness. The author of this book, Peter Lerangis, is trying to tell his readers, “Their friendship is more valuable than all the gold and glory the El Dorado has to offer! ”
I liked this book because it sounded like it could really happen although it was fabled and fictitious. I luxuriate in reading books like this so I would like to recommend this book to anyone.

Title of Book : The Man with Tiger Eyes
Author : Karen Wallace
Publisher : Africa House
Thirteen-year-old Violet Winters had a real taste for solving mysteries—just like me. When I read the mystery, I was too happy and imagined that I was swirling over the vat raising my arms triumphantly and screaming with joy without any etiquette and manners. When Violet solved the mysteries, I chanted “Great!” with eyes bulged as I stay up late for reading this book.
The “Never-give-up” belief of her totally inspired me. Her turquoise silk taffeta was always spinning in my puny brain. Her act of clutching the vine made me laugh.
“New York was so different from London. By comparison, London seemed slow and old-fashioned.” Violet murmured. Karen Wallace helped me to know more about New York in this book. I learnt a lot from this book. For Lady Violet Winters, it’s a world of intrigue and excitement.
Lady Violet’s Casebook series are really suitable for me to read. I smiled with eyes glittering when Lady Violet was happy. I interested in this kind of book. Thus, I highly recommend all of you to read it. (about 177 words)

Title of Book: Great Expectations
Author: Charles Dickens
Publisher: The Commercial Press (HK) Ltd.
Today, I would like to share a book with you. This book is about a boy named Pip. I think this book is quite good so I want to share it with you.
Pip has no mother and father. One day when he was sitting in the churchyard, a prisoner saw him and wanted Pip to give some food to him. He was afraid and he stole from his sister‘s home. While he arrived at the churchyard, he saw another prisoner and gave the food to him. Also, Miss Havisham wanted to see Pip and Pip went to her home. He saw a beautiful girl named Estella in Miss Havisham’s home and Pip loved her. However, Miss Havisham and Estella did not like him, but Miss Havisham wanted Pip to work with Joe Gargery and Biddy. They cared about him very much. But one day, a lawyer named Jaggers said that a secret benefactor wanted to give money to him. Then he went to London and learnt how to do a gentleman. Pip did those and thought that the secret benefactor was Miss Havisham. And he started thinking about Estella……
This book is written by Charles Dickens. Although some behaviour described in this book is incorrect, the book is touching because finally Pip and Estella became friends! And this book also tells us two things: The first is we should help people who have helped us in the past; the second one is we should know that friendship is important.

Title: The Bad Beginning
Author: Lemony Snicket
Publisher: HarperCollins
The book talks about three children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. They lost their parents in a fire. And no relatives could adopt them. Mr. Poe a bank officer, who was a good friend of the Baudelaire, took them to a horrible man’s house, Count Olaf. He was tall and thin with dark black clothes. On his hairy ankles, there were green tattoos of an eye which often symbolize him.
Since the parents left the orphans lots of money, Count Olaf post as their relative and pretended to be polite and kind to Mr. Poe. But to the three poor kids, he is rude and cruel to them. He tried to make them hungry for days or locked them in dark rooms with dirty beds and cloth. He put little Sunny into a bird cage and hung it on the top of the tower. He tried to marry Violet, in order to get the money with ‘justice’.
The author used his concrete description to show me a really unfortunate story. The villain can just be shown in front of your eyes. I dissolved into the plots and always worried about the fate of the three pitiful children. A great book to read.

Title of the book: The Fair Lady
Author: alan Jay Lerner
Publisher:Punguin books
This story talks about a poor young flower-seller, Eliza and a professor,Higgins that hates women. It seems like a romance story, but it also teaches us a lesson.
A girl called Eliza was so poor. She didn’t earn much money from selling flowers. Unfortunately, her father was a heavy drinker. She had to pay her father for the fare of the beer every day.
One day, she met a professor called Higgins who studies phonetics. He accepted to teach Eliza how to speak beautiful and pure English. But at the beginning, Higgins bullied Eliza every day. During the months, Higgins found that he fell in love with Eliza.
After six months, Higgins sucessfully turned a street-girl into a fair lady. But Eliza was gone. Finally, Higgins promised to be kind to Eliza and Eliza came back and lived with Higgins.
After reading this story, I learnt that if we have perseverance, we can overcome every challenge. The words are not very hard and it provides us a clear message. My favourite character is Eliza of course because she encourage me to study hard even though there will be lots of challenges and then I will succeed finally.
